WANTcast: The Women Against Negative Talk Podcast

Welcome to the WANTcast: The Women Against Talk Podcast -lessons in moving forward fearlessly and spreading the (good) word. In each episode, writer, speaker, coach and WANT founder Katie Horwitch unpacks tips, tools, motivation and inspiration to help you shift your self-talk, the internal narrative you have on loop 24/7 that tells you who you are and who you should be. You can't change the world until you change YOUR world, first - and shifting your self-talk is where it all begins. Dive into topics such as confidence, fear, trust, body image, self-doubt, self-worth, relationships, career, friendships, social issues, and more - and walk away from each episode with hyper-actionable steps to shift your narrative from reactive to proactive (as well as inspiration to keep going when the going gets tough). The goal isn't to change who you are - it's to BECOME who you know you're meant to be. Get the show notes + more at womenagainstnegativetalk.com

You know to call someone when you miss them. But what if what you miss isn’t a person that's able to be dialed on the phone - or an event that's about to be rescheduled? What do you do when it's the smaller or less-specific things you miss, like sitting outside with a cup of coffee or going on a vacation (*any* vacation)?

In this episode of the WANTcast, we discuss the concept of what Katie calls experiential longing: the feeling of missing experiences, routines, habits, and situations.

Leadership consultant, attorney, speaker, author and photographer Karen Walrond is the kind of person you just want to know. You just want to soak in some of her light and magic, because maybe, JUST MAYBE, you can use it to help make your own. As someone who has worked extensively with Dove Real Beauty and Brene Brown, Karen is in the business of helping you shine your unique light, no matter WHAT the world throws at you or tells you you need to be.

In this episode we talk about grief and the "phases we go through when bad things happen," holding space for each other in a way that feels true, the intersection of JOY and ACTIVISM, how Karen uses her practice of Positive Psychology to cultivate resilience within her clients and her self, and how to gracefully "not know."

“Empowerment” is trending, but somehow we’re still here telling our negative self talk it can go F off. Calling your critical inner voice a mean name might work for some people - but it's never worked for me.

Here's why this tactic doesn't work for so many of us...and some ways (15, to be exact) you can reframe your negative self-talk when you start to spiral.

Patricia Moreno is the trailblazing founder of spiritual fitness, leading a conversation about living a full potential life and the importance of each and every one of us making a vow to wake up and be a positive and effective part of the raising of the consciousness of the planet.

After years of training and studying with personal optimization experts, mindset scholars and spiritual teachers, Patricia Moreno created her own practices to integrate spiritual fitness into the lives of hundreds of thousands worldwide. Before anyone was saying affirmations on a spin bike, Patricia Moreno was pairing mindfulness with physicality with intenSati, her signature movement method that has been packing classes and changing lives for over 15 years.

In this episode, we talk about Patricia's journey from a girl whose parents put her on a diet at eight years old, to the thought leader and powerhouse she is today. We talk about fat-phobia, and the way our culture (and the fitness industry!) keeps us limiting ourselves without us even KNOWING. We talk about keeping secrets and hitting rock bottom when it looks like you're at the top. We talk about how to achieve the changes you're after, and how physicality is only part of making those changes. We talk about where we are, where we've been, and where we MUST go if we want to move forward fearlessly in our lives. (This is a rebroadcast of one of our favorite WANTcast interviews of all-time from 2018.)
