*Season Three Finale*
For the final episode of Season Three, it's all about you and YOUR questions. After a quick recap of 2018 and Season Three, we dive into five questions from YOU, the WANT community, having to do with boosting your confidence (especially when you're simultaneously trying/needing to uplift others) achieving your goals while staying charged up and energized, "trusting the timing of life" and releasing control when it's the most frustrating to do so, how to deal with hurtful/toxic social media interactions, and - the big one - why so many of us are SO damn lonely and how to find those friends and communities we crave as adults.
Stay tuned until the end - there's a special announcement about the future of the WANTcast and what 2019 has in store for WANT (hint, it involves you)!
*Thank you so much for everything you give to WANT, and to me, and to each other, on a daily basis. I appreciate you and adore you more than I could ever even begin to express. So happy we're in this together. ONWARD!*

As a fitness star at the top of her field, Patricia Moreno appeared to have it all, but knew she was both living and selling a lie: preaching that diet and exercise were the keys to true happiness, while inside she was suffering under a heavy spell of shame and unworthiness. She knew there was more to life, and made it her mission to find the answer and break that spell for everyone suffering the same as her.
After adventures that took her around the world studying, meditating and practicing with gurus and scholars, Patricia created the intenSati Method and began to reshape the fitness industry, and the lives of tens of thousands from the inside-out. Today she's speaking up and calling out the very methods and mindset that she used to be a part of. She is on a mission tear down the body-shaming self-objectifying thin-ideal norms, and show what self love in action truly looks and feels like.
In this episode, we talk about Patricia's journey from a girl whose parents put her on a diet at eight years old, to the thought leader, powerhouse, and "Spiritual Fitness" pioneer she is today. You're not going to want to miss a beat.

You've probably heard "Talk to yourself like you'd talk to someone you love" as foolproof advice to shift your negative self-talk. Easy, right?
But if this is the way to a healthier internal dialogue...then why doesn't it work? Why it it so hard to talk lovingly to ourselves like we'd talk lovingly to someone we care a great deal about?
Here's why: it's hard because we're not talking to people this way.
This episode is all about why "would you say that to a friend?!" is half-baked advice, and how to really practice shifting the script instead.

Tricia Huffman's been in the business of real-deal feel-good since way before social media was a thing. And here's what I love most about her: she's all about the rogue affirmations. Most people in the feel-good biz will shower their people with "You Are Beautiful"s and "Abundance Is Yours"s and say see ya. But Tricia? She digs deeper.
Tricia Huffman, aka Your Joyologist, is on a mission to inspire you to truly live YOUR life and love yourself through all the ups and downs and curve balls life throws us. While living out her first dream as touring sound engineer she saw that everyone, including the people we think “have it all” don’t feel fulfilled. So she first created her Joyology to keep artists healthy, ground and inspired in body and mind while on tour. She got off the road to make space to become a mother and create her affirmation based product line. She is now a mom of two little girls and works with everyone from Grammy Award winning artists to stay at home moms, to become and commit to the person they know they are capable of being deep down and keep them in integrity with who they want to be in the world, for themselves, and for their families.
While this coversation starts with a little bit of a venting session on both our parts, I decided to keep it in because I think it's a GREAT example of productive venting, which is quite different from aimless complaining. Bitching about social media is becoming a "thing" ON social media (lol, the irony), however a lot of what I read simply talks about how annoying and tiring it all is...and places blame on everyone else for the rules we're supposed to follow.
But really...who tells us we are "supposed" to follow them? Nope, no one but ourselves. Which leads me to my absolute FAVORITE part of this interview with Tricia: where we dive in and dig deep about how to distance ourselves from our need for validation, and how to take accountability and responsibility even when we feel something is entirely someone else's fault. Tricia knows how it feels to be resistant, and she knows what it means to OWN YOUR AWESOME. But she didn't get there without getting real with herself and examining what was actually getting in her way.
Take a listen and let me know what you think!

In this episode of the WANTcast, one of our listeners asked to hear about how to make (and keep!) life goals that are realistic and are actually right for you, not just what looks or sounds good or "right."
What's right for one person isn't necessarily right for another - and what's unrealistic to one person might be more attainable for you than you think.
Some questions to ask yourself, some red flags to look out for, how to figure out goals that work for you, and yes - how to actually go about ACHIEVING them (no bs here, folks).

Wanna get a book published, but nervous you might not have what it takes? Wanna save the planet, but too busy shaming yourself because you don't know if you even recycle the "right way?" Ashlee Piper's got you covered.

It's Friday, and it's time for some THINKING OUT LOUD. If you're new here, our THINKING OUT LOUD episodes are very loosely structured solo episides of me riffing off of whatever thoughts are on my mind lately.

On deck for today:
- The difference between following inspiration and following an aesthetic
- Being a tourist in your own city and what kinds of life lessons that brings up
- Being a good person vs making sure a lot of people THINK you’re a good person
- Body pride + mental well-being
...and SO much more.

Ksenia Avdulova is a FORCE to be reckoned with in the digital world. a speaker, social media strategist, and founder of @breakfastcriminals, an award-nominated digital platform known for its influential online presence and offline experiences that merge food and mindfulness. You've probably seen her gorgeous acai and smoothie bowls on Instagram in her signature "heart bowl."
Ksenia's conscious social media methodology, Hashtag Mindful, is rooted in the idea that social media is a tool to share our message, expand our success, and create a positive impact. She has been a workshop leader and speaker at the United Nations GirlUp summit and other empowerment-centered events and retreats around the world. Ksenia is also a featured marketing teacher on Skillshare and co-founder of @crystalcriminals.
In her podcast, Woke and Wired, Ksenia and her guests have unfiltered conversations about expanded consciousness and entrepreneurship in the digital age.
Ksenia has created something REALLY special through Woke and Wired. After binge listening to the first few episodes, I was immediately certain that this is the missing piece we need in a wellness culture that values spirituality over practicality, and a business culture that values the bottom line over looking inside. I am so inspired by these intelligent and nuanced conversations that Ksenia leads with such grace, ease, and mindfulness. There's truly nothing else like it.
Whether you're looking to use the internet to build out a business, stumped on how/when to monetize, curious what goes on behind the scenes (and screens) of influencers, or you're just wondering how the heck to stay grounded and centered in our Like!-Post!-Share! culture, this is a conversation you're going to want to come back to over and over again. Reframing and reworking jealousy has been a GAME CHANGER for me. I'm highly sensitive, so jealousy isn't just wanting what I don't have: it's also feeling BAD about wanting it, feeling GUILTY for spending time wanting it, and feeling like a lame person for focusing on it instead of focusing on "uplifting others." It sends me into a shame spiral, and I don't get anything done when I'm in a shame spiral.
There' a saying that goes “Jealousy works the opposite way you want it to.” And it’s true: without a sense of control over your own jealousy, it pushes people away, squelches opportunity, and is one of the most effective forms of self-sabotage.
Yet learning to harness your jealousy can actually inform you of an important missing link, the most important element in any relationship.
On today's episode, I'm going to share a few strategies that have worked for me. Find yourself prey to your own jealous mind? Here’s what to do.

May was Mental Health Awareness Month - but just because the month is over doesn't mean we should stop talking about it. I can't think of a better guest to remind us of this: someone who is a prime example of taking your pain and trauma and turning it into something that can help and empower others.
Kate is a wellness blogger, yoga instructor and entrepreneur based in Philadelphia. Kate promotes health through mindful living, intuitive movement, food freedom and a body positive message. After recovering from an eating disorder and experiencing childhood trauma, Kate chose to heal through community. She now shares her story with her audience in hopes of about building a community centered in authenticity and radical self love. (Kate is also a dog mom, lover of matcha lattes and anything "woo woo", from crystals to astrology and tarot.)
Kate is the co-founder of a wellness events business, The GOOD Festival, which hosts festivals, retreats and workshops nationally. Kate was recently names 1 of 25 Influential Women to Watch in Wellness by Yogiapproved.com and her story and writing have been featured in mindbodygreen, Yoga Digest and Thoughtfully Magazine.
This episode is AMAZING for anyone who wants to build a community of like-minded people sans the BS (whether in-person or online), interested in creating serial success instead of being a one-hit-wonder, loves wellness but is looking for a little more substance than what's on-trend, is curious as to how wellness practices can ACTUALLY heal past wounds and trauma...and, speaking of trauma, anyone who has either experienced trauma in their past that might be holding them back, or knows someone who is still working through their own trauma and might not even recognize it.
So grateful to Kate for sharing so much of herself and being so willing to talk about some sensitive subjects.
(Note: we do not go into graphic detail, but if you have experienced trauma or abuse, please be mindful that we DO talk about these subjects. We make sure we don't speak in a triggering way, but everyone is different - you know yourself best.)

How many times throughout the week do we play the “If Only” game? Think: If only I had a higher budget, I could afford that apartment/car/clothing/etc. If only I had a tech team, I could crush the online game. If only I looked like that, I could avoid feeling like this. If Onlys hold us in a loop of constant longing; constantly believing that our happiness is way far out of reach.
Positive affirmations don’t cut it without a solid base to make them work. And for most of us, it’s marathon-level difficult to “affirmation” our way out of a feeling like worthlessness, shame, or lack that cuts super deep. If Onlys can get us feeling downer than down, and at their worst, stop us from taking any proactive action in our lives.
This episode is all about how to move PAST the If Onlys and get back on a proactive path that's also pragmatic for where you are in this very moment.

Today's guest started her business from her own personal experience with autoimmune disease. Rachel Winard is the founder of Soapwalla, a indie skincare brand based in Brooklyn that prides itself on being pure, effective and trustworthy. The all-female company is based in Gowanus in a converted canning factory - so cool. After discovering that she had systemic lupus (an autoimmune illness that led to skin irritations), Rachel started creating products that wouldn't irritate her skin. Today Soapwalla is a globally sold and recognized brand, and truly one of the OGs when it comes to the world of natural beauty. Soapwalla is proudly an LGBTQ-run business, an active advocate of gay and women's rights, and works on getting customers involved too.
In this episode we talk about Rachel's crazy career journey from music to where she is now, how to advocate for a more inclusive and just world in both business and life, our mutual love for kind of unexpected things (like dinosaurs) and so much more. She is such a calming force and at the same time, so bright and effervescent - a friend of mine likes to say that certain people are like the "bubbles in champagne" and that's definitely the case with Rachel.

I know. Social media can be frustrating for me, too. And I can't count how many times I've heard my friends say they're going on a digital detox or post a #DeleteFacebook hashtag (especially after all the drama of this week in particular; I'm looking at you Cambridge Analytica).
But the thing is, going cold turkey DOESN'T REWRITE our bad habits.
If you're listening to the WANTcast, you're probably already pretty mindful IRL. You’re present in your conversations, you live for the now, and you’re all about savoring the moment.
But here’s the hard reality: social media, smartphones, and being in-somewhat-constant-contact are not the exception anymore, they’re the norm. Facebook or #DeleteFacebook, there will ALWAYS be some new platform for us to use and abuse.
Whether you’re looking to grow your business or are the average social media user catching up on cute baby/puppy pics and posting funny memes, the social media overwhelm factor is loud and proud and REAL. It’s not just that social media is a distraction – it’s that it makes us question how true our truths really are.
Today on the WANTcast, a few solid social media tips + strategies to follow (ha, no pun intended) so you can have your life and post it, too.

In this episode we talk about (and, we go there) gun violence and talking to kids about what's going on in an "appropriate" way, where a quest for happiness and "following your bliss" really came from and if it's actually serving us, making wokeness more than a gimmick, locker room talk (no, not in THAT way), feminism/activism's place in the wellness industry, and so, SO much more.

We’re all equipped with a Through Line; something we’re wonderful at and are meant to give to the world. And while some people might suggest mantras or affirmations to learn a new internal language, it’s my FIRM BELIEF that you can’t shift your self-talk without finding your Through Line first.
Learn how to define your Through Line: an important building block when it comes to tackling your negative self-talk. Today on the WANTcast, the #1 tool we've got on Women Against Negative Talk.
(Learn best by reading, not listening? Need to bookmark this for later? Here's the written version.)

We're back in action, baby!! I can’t think of a better guest to kick off Season Three (which, by the way, will be 20 episodes and now run every other week instead of every three weeks) than author and host Katie Dalebout.
In this episode, Katie and I talk about major transitions, navigating change (when you don’t have a high threshold for change), moving across the country and what it’s taught us, why constant growth and goal-chasing isn’t always a good thing, the value in doing what doesn’t feel like yourself, and so much more (including a topic I was really excited to dive into with her: INTERSECTIONAL WELLNESS).
Katie is the host of the Let It Out Podcast and the author of Let It Out: A Journey Through Journaling (Hay House 2016). Katie is a writer and podcast host focusing on self-care, self-awareness, and self-expression for the greater good. Through her speaking and writing, she aims to help people develop a positive image of their bodies by embracing their creativity and personality outside of their physicality.

**SEASON TWO FINALE** Ending the year with some THINKING OUT LOUD. In this episode, we dive in and dig deep on: -Letting "WHY" be your guide and how it helped our wedding truly be the best day ever, -Instant gratification and breaking out of being a slave to the mirco moments instead of...well, the bigger picture, -The profound moment that helped me deal with other people's trauma, toxic people, hard conversations, and grief I didn't even know I was processing, -What it means to TRULY run toward something instead of away from something - PLUS, why I am going to "function under 'f*ck-it'" and ask myself this one pivotal, sort-of-scary question this year in everything I do. JOIN ME.
The WANTcast will return in February with new episodes every other week. Happy Happy New Year, WANT peeps! I love you with all my heart and am SO happy you are on this crazy ride with me.

Today, I'm diving in and digging DEEP with Nathaniel V. Dust, healer and founder of Breathwork For Recovery. Nathaniel has worked as a professional healer for almost a decade, using the power of a person’s breath as a catalyst for positive changes in clients’ lives. Equipped with an arsenal of techniques – with a special focus on breathwork – Nathaniel has helped thousands of people process trauma, disarm negative thought patterns, and maintain healthy and happy relationships with themselves and loved ones.
And while his specialty IS working with treatment centers, it's not just substance abusers or people with eating disorders who are changed by his work: Nathaniel’s client base ranges from those seeking relief from everyday anxiety to people suffering from severe emotional and physical trauma who are desperate for help. Which is why I truly feel this episode is a MUST-LISTEN for everyone.
Nathaniel will BLOW YOUR MIND with his dissection of trauma, his detailed account of his own recovery, and some alternative forms of therapy you might not have ever know existed (one word: HORSES).
Also important: we talk about how to be acutely aware of your recovery journey, and if and when and HOW you can help others who are stuggling if you are still in the thick of it.
If you feel unsettled trauma in your body...if you ever wondered if there was another way to heal...if you have ever been in a toxic relationship or known someone who has...then this is the episode you're meant to hear today.
